Bad Momma

can you believe i've never taken gianna to the beach? well, believe it, because it's true!  i'm a bad momma.  we live 15 minutes away, and i have no excuse other than it's not my thing.  i hate the triple S of the beach.  sweat, sand and salt.  ugh.  not my thing.

well, toby's friend from OH is down here on vacation and invited us to hang out at the beach on sunday afternoon, so we decided to go.

the kids decided that a good way to prepare was to have a teddy bear sandwich.

oh, and i forgot...in the morning we made a quick target run to get some big bouncy balls.  not beach related, just fun.  they found some fun ways to play with them and of course, monkey see, monkey do!
i guess she likes it.  i guess i'm going to have to suck it up and go more often.

poppa's stuck on ocean duty.  i don't go in past my ankles.  more than one reason why.
i might have to get this one in black and white on canvas to match the one we have of roman and poppa like this.
 they loved it!
he was crab crawling in the water and out.
i love this picture...little sis on her first beach trip...big bro in the background.  so sweet.

Who Invited Carlos?

for the last few days, we've noticed gianna saying what sounds like "carlos" sometimes.  i just laughed it off until this morning when i dropped her off at school and she said it again.  her teacher said "maybe she is saying yogurt", so we asked her to say yogurt and sure enough, that's what "carlos" is!  too funny!  also, she calls her cereal bar a "beeta ba".  this is what i saw on her gram today...she ate all of her carlos and most of her beeta ba.
toby got out some "carlos" tonight at dinner and she screamed across the room, "CARLOS!!", but of course, i didn't get THAT on video!

The In Between

you know, that time in between big events.  like, our visit with mommom is over.  the next big thing might be school starting back up (ack!).  seriously though, i have already bought his school supplies.  i hate crowds, so i was all about getting them early!

lately, gianna has wanted to use a "poon" for everything. even when it would be easier to use her fingers.  so, peas on a "poon" it is!
and of course, brother is right in there.  this night, he had made the discovery of rubber band shooting.
yeah, we still had sparklers left.  so we lit them up.  a week later!
guido is getting to be a little bit of a cuddler.  it's really nice.  he's not 100% chill yet, but much more calm than before.
i call this (and many other scenarios in our house) monkey see, monkey do.  gianna always wants to do what ro is doing.  she says "my turn" and just repeats what he is doing.  this particular time, it happened to be stretching
maybe there was a little too much monkey seeing, monkey doing.  she was so tired.  this was her attempt to go upstairs for a nap.  the stairs ended up being comfy, so she just rested a little bit right there.
meanwhile, roman hopped in her crib.  silly monkey!
since about 5 minutes after we put our dining room valances up, i've hated them.  they were the same color as the wall.  i saw this fabric at walmart and snatched up what they had left.  it was just enough to cover up the plain tan part at the top and i kept the brown band at the bottom.  much better.  not HGTV worthy or anything, but way better.
last weekend when mom was down, we gave her an iPhone. this is the reason why.  so she can video chat with the kids.  as you can see, they were goofy as usual and she enjoyed it too!
i call this dynamic duo Captain Underpants and his trusty sidekick, Diaper Diva!
i've had these shelves for the better part of a year now. josh made them for gianna and brought them down last year and i knew that i wanted them up, but i didn't know where.  then we decided to have dad build the storage unit and i wanted to wait until after that.  we finally decided this weekend and toby hung them up.  i totally, completely, absolutely adore them.  they are rustic and cool and functional and they say Colella Shipping Co. on them.  josh is so super talented and creative.  gianna is a lucky girl to have him for an uncle and godfather.  thank you uncle godpappy!!!!

A Special Visit for the Fourth!!

we had a special visitor this holiday weekend!  MOMMOM came to see us!  she arrived around dinnertime and so we were outside playing around a little bit while poppa grilled our dinner.  roman loved the sparklers and the pop-its that poppa brought home.
this is the best picture of gianna that i could get.
roman was dropping the pop-its from up high to get them to pop really loud.
he also got this really cool rocket shooter thing and hasn't stopped playing with it all weekend!  we even had to glue it together after part of it broke, but now its as good as new!
after gianna was in bed, we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores.  this was mommom's first ever s'more!  can you believe that?  who needs fireworks when you've got mommom and some s'mores?
on friday night at taekwondo, roman was high rank...meaning that he was the highest rank in his class and got to lead everyone in the motto and bowing in.  he did great, mr. moore had to remind him to slow down, though.  i think he was a little excited and his motto was in fast forward!
poppa also got some bigger fireworks for us to enjoy at home.  we didn't go anywhere this year to watch them, so this was a nice little treat.  and honestly, i liked it better because there wasn't any sitting in the car, fighting the crowds, keeping gianna up too late.  it was so relaxed and roman LOVED it!

mommom took this video with her new iPhone.  listen until the end and you will hear our neighbor yell at the very end!  too funny!
the three musketeers!
this was gianna's first gogurt.  she got a little help from mommom with squeezing it.  i'd say she really enjoyed it, what do you think?
she is obsessed with eating snacks out of a cup (or a puck, as she calls it).  here, she had her fishies in a puck and she was a happy girl!
those s'mores were so yummy the first time, that we made them again.  only, we did it in the microwave this time.  mommom and roman got a little bit messy!
gianna loves to do everything that roman does, and he loves it too!
mommom, roman and i went to the movies to see monsters university and mommom was sharing her popcorn.
mommom had to leave on sunday and we were sad to see her go, but we were so glad she got to come down for a visit.  we spent the rest of the day resting and doing laundry (7 loads!!!) and just hanging out.  gianna pulled her chair out, got roman's crocs on and was just chilling watching mickey mouse!

Every Day We Have A Little Fun

even in the mundane every day stuff that we do, we try to have a little fun.  it's pretty hard not to have fun with these kids.  they make me laugh and smile every day!

gianna loves to lay on her belly in the bathtub now.  and the bottom right picture is what she does when i say "show me your teeth"
toby was showing roman something and gianna just laid right down next to them...too cute.
this was at about 7:30 in the morning...they were wanting to go outside and do something, so i got out the sidewalk chalk and they went to town.  now all gianna says when we go out back is "i color, i color"

and she does this shrugging her shoulders thing that is too funny sometimes.
then the boys got out the squirt guns and were having a fight.  she really didn't want any part of that!

roman's field trip with camp this week was to a kazoo factory...so this is all we heard for a few days.  hmmm, i wonder where that kazoo went? ;)
we went to my summer work party and roman got to help me out a little and wanted his picture taken with the elmo pinata.  this is literally the only picture i took the whole night.  boo.
roman is in the orange group at camp and wanted his own little orange group at home, so we got orange bandanas for him and gianna.
this look cracks me up!
these are roman's taekwondo pictures.  he looks pretty mean, huh?
