Family Funday Sunday

we were up and outta here early today! we got out on the boat around 8:30 this morning. we were trying to beat the heat and get home in time for lunch and a nap. we even packed our breakfast and ate it on the boat. we cruised up the river and found a large school of dolphins just popping up everywhere. i mean, they were everywhere! it was so cool to just sit in the middle and hear them coming up for air all around us. some of them were even sticking their heads up out of the water to look at us...check us out. it was so cool. after that, we headed back the other way and went all the way up towards beaufort. it was kind of rough, but roman and i sat up front and looked all around at all the boats and birds and bridges around us. this boy loves that boat!

my captain and first mate (isn't that hair a hoot?)

we headed back home and got cleaned up and had some lunch, then after he woke up from his nap, he snacked on a soft pretzel...goofball...

5 Years

september 17, 2005.
our wedding day.
on that day, i could have never dreamed that i would be any happier than i was right then.
boy, was i wrong.
it may not seem like a long time to most people, but when i think about what the last 5 years have brought us, i couldn't be more proud of how we've stood by each other through it all. i love my husband with all of my heart and soul and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with this man.
(forgive me, but all pictures in this post are from either toby's phone or my phone)

did i mention that he treats me like a queen? my son greeted me on friday morning with this beautiful anniversary band in his hand and was so proud to give it to me. he helped poppa pick it out.

here is a better picture

then, i got these at work...
as if that wasn't more than enough, we left roman with aunt hettie on saturday and headed up to myrtle beach for the night. we hung out here most of the night...
kickin' back in an adirondack chair
looking up at this...
then, this was the view from our dinner table
the drinks, food and music was fabulous, the company was even better! i love you, babe! happy anniversary!

on another note, we have been experimenting with bribery. most of you know that we have a picky eater. well, our pediatrician suggested that we use a little reward system for when roman tries new things. we've done it twice so far and it has worked twice! i call that success. coming from a kid who really only eats about 10 different things...all in rotation.
we started with baked chicken, corn and biscuits. reward...ice cream with sprinkles.
tonight, we had spaghetti and meatballs and bread. reward...m&ms (thanks aunt hettie)
i'm sure we will hit some roadblocks, but i am very optimistic. he hasn't eaten ground beef ever! before tonight. oh, and the best part is that he is all proud of himself. when i put him to bed tonight he said "i ate neepols (meatballs) and masketti (spaghetti) and bread!"
wish me luck.

At the Dentist

roman had his first dental cleaning yesterday. he was surprisingly calm and walked in with total confidence!
in the waiting room at the dentist's office...

doesn't he look like a pro? of course, this was before the cleaning began!he let the hygienist look at his teeth and even clean them with a toothbrush. when it came time for polishing with mr. tickle...he wasn't a fan. only because he didn't like the taste. so, we tried to do the flouride treatment, but that didn't work out either. but, even after all that, he let the dentist look at his teeth too and even opened real wide. the hygienist and i were giggling though because the whole time the dentist was looking in his mouth, his tongue was just a movin' back and forth...so funny! so, no cavities and really good teeth! yay!

Yummy Sunday

...so lately i've been thinking about all the yummy things my mom used to make for us. a while ago, i got on a whoopie pie kick and we had quite a few of those around for awhile. now, i'm moving on to donuts. so yummy. warm, doughy, sugary donuts.
okay, so it took me a few tries to get the oil at the right temp...illustration below

the final product.

for those of you counting, yes, that is 3 donuts and 5 donut holes. doesn't quite add up, huh? well...of course there was the completely burnt donut as seen above, but there was another one after that that was not done at all. try try again. ahhh, perfection. persistence pays. in donuts. warm, sugary, doughy donuts. and then i looked over and this is what i saw. and then we assembled his birthday gift from uncle donald duck and aunt colleen. it is a philadelphia 76ers stepstool, which doubles as a "tool box", which in roman's language means toy box. here he is demonstrating it's alternate function. look how tall i am!it's noon on sunday and i've made donuts, put together a stool, done 4 loads of laundry, made his lunch and now i'm ready for my nap...whew. i love lazy days.

Party On Party People

...and so it continues...
we had roman's birthday party yesterday and even though he woke up from his nap on the wrong side of the bed and not quite feeling his best, he still had a great time and we all enjoyed the company!

his cake...

...his cake after the a/c went out and it melted off the side...haha what a goofball!
chilling, watching shrek...with shrek (thanks mimi!)playing with mr. potato head it's hard to see, but this is a collage of pictures of ro from all three birthdays so far.... the decorations all the cards for the birthday boys of course, mady had to be there! making silly faces little juice drinkers hey! i'm wearing my hat! pretty girl, hala...thanks for coming to my party!time for cake!make a wishlicking the icing off the candlesmomma, i want this piece right here...woody's faceon to presents...
