Awaiting the Bunny

roman has really been excited for Easter.  attending a Catholic school has really made him very aware of the true reason for the holiday.  i love that.

we finally had time to dye eggs on saturday afternoon.
 mr. concentration
 oh yeah!
wow!  the bunny came and left some awesome goodies!

look momma, the bunny brought me some fun stuff
too busy looking at his loot to even look at the camera

i literally thank God every night for these children.  they are not only beautiful, but they have pure kindness and joy in their hearts and for that, i am so grateful.

time for the egg hunt...it's on!
do i play with this or put it in my basket?
 ooooh, i found one!
look guys!  i found another one!
racing to get them from the couch
she sees them in her chair
and practically dives to get them
he's so sweet.  he pointed this one out to gianna.
and he lets her get the easy ones

some of the eggs had yummy chocolate candies inside.
finally, mimi, popo and aunt maddy arrived.  we had a great meal and lots of laughs and good times.  we are so happy to have them here to visit.

Playing Catch(Up)

yes, i'm behind.  SO sorry.  no excuses.  let's just move forward...mkay?

last weekend was opening day for roman's t-ball league.  good thing he's cute because that red dirt is really messy!
this girl LOVES to brush her teeth.  she's real serious about it too.
...and super cute.  she loves it, and always asks for more.
gianna has really been interested in her books lately and loves to read, even if the book is upside down.
both my kiddos sitting on the couch eating cheez-its.
we went to chickfila on thursday and got to sit with mady!  it was so fun to see her!

The Tooth Fairy Visits Roman

on sunday morning, we were snuggling in our bed and roman started making a funny noise.  i looked over at him and he had his mouth open wide and a scared look on his face.  i could tell that his tooth had finally come out.  he was still so scared, but i told him not to swallow and i grabbed it out of his mouth.  it was a little bloody and it felt really weird for him to spit, but he was really excited.  we made a really big deal about it all day long.

 my little snaggletooth!
we put the tooth in the creepy tooth pillow and placed it under his pillow.  when he woke up in the morning it was still dark and he was so upset and started to cry.  i asked him why he was crying and he said that it wasn't morning time yet.  i tried to explain daylight savings time and how it was lighter longer at the end of the day, but darker in the morning.  that was not helping.  have you tried explaining DST to a 5 year old before? not effective, i tell you.  anyway, i figured out that he was upset because he thought that the tooth fairy hadn't come yet because it was still night time.  i asked him to check under his pillow and guess what?  the tooth fairy had already some and taken his tooth.  no more tears.  he was a happy boy!
the tooth fairy left him some dollars and some pennies...

...and a note  {click the picture to make it bigger so you can read the note}

just a funny note:  last week, roman had a book fair at school, but we've been talking so much about the tooth fairy that he started calling it a book fairy.  too funny.

Tuesday Roundup

we've been trying to get outside a little more in the evenings to get some air and a little exercise.  gianna loves her purple tricycle.  i think on this trip, she almost fell asleep once we started hitting the cracks on the sidewalk...bump bump, bump bump, bump bump.

like i mentioned before, we were waiting on a loose tooth to make it's way on out of roman's mouth, so we made this tooth pillow to hold the tooth safely until the tooth fairy arrived.  this little fella turned out a little creepier than i had imagined in my head.  not sure if it's the googly eyes, or the eyebrows or the teeth or a combination of all of it, but he's not the friendliest looking thing.  oh well, at least it will be dark when the tooth fairy comes!
can you just see the orneriness through the camera?
how about now?  i feel like she is a bull about ready to charge.
okay, how about now?  this was the same day that her gram came home from school saying that she had a meltdown at lunchtime.  i just have to laugh.

both kiddos got to wear some green to school on friday.  i love this little series of events.  she's like "oh hi big brother, you are SO tall.  oh wait, i need a hug.  okay, i'm ready now!"
i'm not a big fan of driving a minivan, but this is what i see in my rear view and it makes me so glad i have a grocery getter.

CJ in SC

we got a very nice surprise last weekend.  cj had hitched a ride down to south carolina with his buddy cody and they even made a quick trip to hilton head, so we got to spend a little time with him and have dinner together.  the kids were really excited to see him and i loved it too!  he's so stinkin' handsome!

gianna loved wearing cj's sunglasses.   ooooooohhhhh, baby!

Tubes & Teeth

after too many trips to the pediatrician, er and even our obligatory a.i. dupont visits when we go to delaware to visit, we finally got a referral to an ENT.  our sweet babaloo has had more than her fair share of ear infections, fevers, antibiotics and lost sleep.  i haven't ever really been super excited about the possibility of her getting tubes in her ears, but have heard nothing bad, only good.  on friday, the ENT did determine that she would need tubes and it was scheduled for today.  i was happy that there wasn't a lot of time to wait, since i probably would have gotten more and more nervous about it.  i didn't sleep much at all last night thinking about the fact that she would be completely under anesthesia.  up at 5am, at the surgery center at 6:30, she did really well.  she was curious about what was happening but she didn't get upset until she was taken away, without momma.  i was happy it was only for about 10 minutes because i was nervous and anxious.  the doctor came and got me and told me it went well.  he did notice that she had ruptured her left eardrum at some point, so that probably didn't feel very good.  (i hate that she can't tell me what hurts) she came out of the anesthesia very well and was hungry and thirsty.  we went home and she was a little wobbly, but happy.  she took a very long nap and seems like she feels good.  i feel like we made the right decision.  i hope that this helps her and she doesn't have to suffer through all those infections any more.

sweet babaloo waiting her turn
she seems back to normal, huh?

after she woke up from her nap, we went and got roman so that he could go to the dentist.  he did great!  no cavities and he even has a tooth coming in on the bottom front, right behind his baby tooth.  it is pushing his baby tooth out, so that is very loose.  i just checked his teeth a couple weeks ago, so i was surprised that it had happened that fast.  the dentist said it really happens very quickly.  so, we'll probably be getting a visit from the tooth fairy very soon!

then, we decided to have dinner at chickfila so that momma didn't have to cook.  i loved having a little date with my little ladybug and mr. handsome.  they were so sweet and we had a great time.  (and i didn't have to cook or clean up!)
