He Is My Sunshine

my mother has always called me "sunshine" and always sings me this song. when she found this card, even though it said happy birthday and it wasn't my birthday, she still got it. i have adapted the song somewhat and sing it to roman every night. he found the card last night and this is what we have been listening to ever since. music to my ears. he is my sunshine...

Pumpkin Fest '09

it all started 2 years ago.
we had recently moved here and were near family again.
any excuse to have them over and eat would do.
and so pumpkin fest was born.
we are on our 3rd one now and it has only gotten better.

the premise: we provide the food and the tools to carve/paint a pumpkin,
you bring the pumpkins. fun, huh? we think so....

this year we had chicken n dumplings (oh so yummy) and cold veggie pizza (my favorite). we also decided that painting some of the pumpkins would be a good idea for two reasons,

1. the kids aren't so great with knives, and
2. unfortunately it is still hot here in October and our
pumpkins rot in about a day if you carve them...bummer :(
here are some pictures from pumpkin fest '09!!

City of Love

okay, so i'm a little late posting this, but hey, i'm doing it now, so back off, alright? ok, so maybe i'm the only one upset here....

toby and i went to a wedding last weekend for his old buddy mike and his new bride christie. i have known mike as long as toby and i have been dating since they lived together at the time, but i've only met christie a couple of times. however, i am glad that they found each other because they certainly seem like a perfect match. here are a few shots of our evening. and please forgive the fact that my camera didn't take such great shots, it was a dark and gloomy day and i didn't get many good pics.
don't forget, we were in phillie country...

Birthday Song Has Been Bumped

for my faithful blog followers (i'm talking to you, mom), you may remember that I mentioned that roman has an obsession with singing the birthday song every! single! day! well, i am happy to announce that we have now spent 2 blissful days without having to sing the birthday song to whom/whatever happens to be around at the moment...i.e. puppy, fishy, froggie, tete(binky), tasha, momma, poppa, duke...seriously, i have sung the birthday song to just about everything in sight. since september 6th...it started on toby's birthday.

however, it has been replaced with a new song. my wonderful philadelphia sports team loving husband has taught our son the philadelphia eagles fight song.

fly eagles fly...on the road to victory...
fight eagles fight, score a touchdown 1,2,3. 1! 2! 3!
hit 'em low, hit 'em high, and we'll watch our eagles fly...
fly eagles fly, on the road to victory!
E A G L E S...Eagles!!!!

so, at 6am this morning (yes, ro was in our bed as of 4:45am) in the dead quiet, our littlest eagles fan could no longer hold it in. he took his tete out and said "fye ee-oles", to which i replied, poppa will sing it with you...

what a way to start the day!

HiHo, HiHo, To Delaware We Go

to explain my brief vacation from blogging...i was super busy last week preparing for our mini-vacation to delaware. toby's good friend mike was getting married in philly and so we took advantage of that and booked a few nights at casa de mommom and casa de mimi. here's some highlights...

coloring in the car

making a sword out of the markers is much more fun

and he's out

giving mommom a sticker

checking out his new light up punkin wand

mommom's toybox is full of goodies but the horse was his favorite
ro found this little stool and walked around holding it to his rear end everywhere he went, until he felt the need to sit down. he was very proud of his new discovery.

then, up to mimi's...she had lots of multicolored punkins, but purple was a favorite

he found a chair just his size

mimi and aunt maddy helped him color

roman got to do lots of other fun stuff with mimi, popo and aunt maddy but toby and i went to a wedding with the camera, so we don't have any pictures of that :( they went to maddy's swim meet and then got to go visit grandpa and eat pizza and french fries. they also had a campout in the living room, even popo slept out there with them! he had a great time with everyone.
believe it or not, we actually saw the sun on the drive home, so the sunglasses came out...along with the dvd player. what a treat that is in the car on a long ride...for momma and poppa, i mean
man, it sure is a tough life this kid leads, right? kicked back, watchin some backyardigans, sippin on a juice box. does life get any better?
well, to sum up our weekend...family, food, friends and fun. we sure had a great time and hope to do it again soon!

I believe I can fly

one of ro's newest obsessions...airplanes. "momma, airpane!" he loves to wear his airplane pajamas and mommom just got him a shirt with an airplane on it too. but apparently, to truly imitate an airplane, your shirt must go over your head.
here he is at our house, running around the island...
here he is at mommom's, running around her island...

have a nice flight!!!

Bum in a Basket

roman rediscovered his "tupperware cabinet" the other day. it actually isn't tupperware at all, but a hodge podge of all plastic things that i don't need and think he might have fun with. here's what he found...
