Softball Sweetheart

last year, gianna played coach pitch baseball with a team that was mostly boys.  this year, she is old enough to play softball with all girls!  she was so excited to get started!  never mind that there are only enough girls for 2 teams and we just play each other over and over again all season long.  they are having fun and learning every time they step on the field.

big brother is even helping her practice

for her first game, miss casey came out to watch her play!

please forgive my softball mom voice, but i couldn't help but get excited for her!

they won!  and gianna was the first to score for her team!

they pray after each game.  ๐Ÿ™

we were some pretty proud parents, that's for sure.

she's our dazzling doll and i love that she loves the game.

she's been pretty consistent with her hitting each game.

and she got to play catcher in her game this week.  she did wonderful!

Waves Spring 2018

the waves 10U spring season has begun!
their first tournament of the spring was in pooler, ga and they were ready to play!

roman hit a home run out of the park and got a nice medal from the tournament director.

they played some lights out baseball, going 4-0 on the weekend and won the whole thing!

it was a great start to the season and we can't wait to see what else they can do!

Macee

a few weeks ago, we had a free saturday (imagine that!) and we headed to clinton, sc to watch macee play!

the weather was great and the kids had a great time watching macee do her thing.  well, maybe gianna was a little more captivated by the cheerleaders, but hey, she was there and she was happy.

we got to go to macee's dorm and meet her cat (gianna was smitten).

and we stayed to eat some pizza with our girl.

macee, we are so proud of you!  can't wait for next season๐Ÿ˜

Mommom and Poppop

we had some visitors!

the weekend before my birthday, mommom and poppop came down for a quick weekend visit.  on saturday morning, we were up early at the ballfields for gianna's first softball practice, so we decided to head to the squat n gobble for breakfast.  believe it or not, in my 11 years of living here, it was my first time at the local landmark that is right on the edge of our neighborhood.

gianna got to sit with mommom and poppop and go through our family photo album from last year.

poppop was soaking up the sun๐Ÿ˜Ž

gianna and mommom found some cool oyster shells at the river and painted them when they got home.

we missed daffodil picking because we were having fun doing other things, so gianna decided that we needed to go flower hunting anyway.

she found some pretty yellow and white flowers and mommom helped her arrange them with some pretty greenery.

but, her favorite ones were these white azaleas from our bushes out back.

what else do we do?  go to the ballfield.  roman had practice, so we took some sidewalk chalk for gianna to entertain herself and she was showing poppop all of her artwork.

thanks for the fun visit!  we miss you already!

A little love...

february is a love-ly month, dontcha think?  look at these sweet colella girls, at the ballfields...where we live in the spring.

i still love getting the kids a little something for valentine's day.  this year, we didn't do a ton of candy since valentine's day fell on ash wednesday, the first day of lent.  and, for the 2nd year in a row, gianna has given up candy for lent.  so, rubber masks replaced the sweet stuff this year.

toby and i couldn't resist trying them out before giving them to the kiddos!

underdog!

and look at these sweet girls.  final basketball game for the boys, but they found their zen on the bleachers!

Philly Philly

the super bowl was a pretty big deal in the colella house this year!

our beloved eagles were in the big game and we were down for all things philly!  i even got some nail polish strips that matched their colors.

when the big day arrived, we made sure we had all of our snacks and piles of dirty laundry ready to go.  piles of dirty laundry?  what in the world?  well, my friends, let me explain.

as we entered the playoffs, toby found that when the eagles were needing a little boost, if he started folding his laundry, they would bounce back and so it became his "thing".  as michael scott says..."i'm not superstitious, i'm just a little stitious".

so, as the game commenced, so did the cleaning.  we had laundry going and a dirty kitchen all set for him to make sure the eagles were playing well.

meanwhile, roman and i relaxed on the couch in our designated spots and if we moved, we were promptly scolded to sit back down.  but, as you can imagine, as the game went on, we were on the edge of our seats and i even caught roman crossing his fingers and holding his breath as touchdowns were reviewed.

by the 4th quarter, toby felt secure enough to sit down for short periods at a time and the boys were celebrating each small victory that led our underdogs to their big win.  (see the folded laundry piling up on the island?๐Ÿ˜‚

the colella boys were watching their dreams come true before their eyes.

in the end, the game was magical.  we watched our team do what no one thought they could.  i loved watching toby and roman bond over an amazing season.

whatever next season brings, we are ready for it.  we will always be superfans!

E A G L E S, Eagles!!!
