we all got up and got ready to go to taekwondo this morning, but when we arrived, they were closed! roman was sad that he wasn't able to spar and practice weapons, so we decided to go bowling instead. this was roman's first time at a real bowling alley. he has perfected his bowling technique on the xbox kinect at home, but it is much different in real life!

Our Weekend

i got a new phone on friday, so i am trying out the camera and videocamera on it to see if they are easy to use and easy to upload. sometimes, it is much easier to just bring my phone with me if we are going somewhere or even if we are just at home. typically, i always have it with me, even in the house, so i am excited to be able to use it instead of the big camera. i will still use that one because it really is nice, but for everyday pics, i will probably use my phone. all these pics and the two videos are from my new phone.

roman is so funny at taekwondo. on saturdays, he takes 3 classes. tiny tigers, sparring and weapons. here he is in the sparring class. he spars with beckett because they are closest in size. i find it quite amusing. i didn't think to take a video of when it was beckett's turn to beat up on roman, but believe me, roman did great. he stood there, chin down, hands up and didn't back down. that's my boy. one other funny thing too...they were listening to the instructor and roman looked at me and had his mouthpiece hanging out of his teeth. all of a sudden, he got up and came over to me and just stood there. i needed to stick my fingers inside his face mask and put it back in his mouth. there was no way he could do it with all his gear on. too funny.

this picture was taken using instagram which is an app i downloaded for my phone. you can make the picture look really old and grainy (one of the options is even called 1977...the year i was born), which i think is kinda cool. just think, all the pictures of me at this age looked like this, but they didn't have a choice back then! ha ha

she was fighting her nap yesterday and finally caved in to the sandman. so sweet.

her nana got her this dress and she got so many compliments on it at church today. (doesn't this pic look like she is relaxing in a pool float?)

also, gianna got her first taste of rice cereal today. and when i say taste, i mean a taste. that's probably all she got. i'm not sure much of it made it to her stomach. she made some faces, but i don't think she cared either way for it. i'm not sure she is ready for solids yet. she really didn't know quite how to eat it. maybe we need to practice a little more.

i can't believe our weekend is over already. i'm looking forward to our next one already!

Stylin' and Slidin'

we have been very lucky to have gotten a bunch of great hand-me-downs from friends. some of them haven't even been worn, they still have tags on them! since little miss smiley pants seems to be growing like a weed, i have to constantly go through her clothes and set aside the ones she has outgrown and go through the new ones and the hand-me-downs. i have a bad habit of "saving" the really cute outfits for special occasions. but, how often do those occur? not too often. certainly not often enough when she grows so quickly. so, i've decided that she is going to wear these cute outfits no matter whether we are going anywhere or not...and she is going to wear them to daycare too!

here's my girl ready for a day out shopping with momma. (we decided after going through her clothes that the only thing she really needed was new pajamas. my girl is growing out of her footies so quick!)
...and of course, my handsome little man is growing too! look at those swimming trunks...don't they look like they are toby's hand-me-downs? too big, too quick! oh, and yes, i know he is skinny. but, i promise we feed him.

A Tisket, A Tasket

pinterest strikes again! i saw this on pinterest and just knew that i wanted to make my own version for gianna. it was time-consuming and tedious, but fun nonetheless. mine is a little wonky...doesn't really sit up super straight (hey, neither do i), but i still love it. it's all spring-y and scrappy and girly.

4 months

oh man, is time really flying by...i feel like i just did gianna's 3 month post and here we are at 4 months! here are some things little miss punkin face has going on:

- she weighs 13lbs, 2oz. she is 24.5 inches long. both of these stats fall between the 30-40th percentile for her age.

- she has discovered her hands. her hands always seem to be in her mouth. since roman got his first tooth at 4 months, i'm wondering if this will be something she does too.

- she loves to grab her toes. she's a flexible little lady.

-she is still a wonderful sleeper. most of the time, she'll sleep from 8-10 hours. in a row. that's the important part. :)

-she doesn't really like to be laying down if things are going on around her. she has really strong stomach muscles (she must be doing ab work when i'm not around) and will grab onto whatever she can to pull herself up. she has just started being able to sit in the bumbo for extended periods of time.

-she's very social. she doesn't like to be left alone. if i walk out of the room, she let's me know that she wants me to come back.

- she will laugh or smile if you make the motorboat noise for her. and she will try to imitate it right back to you.

- the only time she really cries is when she is super tired. can you blame her? that's kinda what i want to do when i'm tired too.

- she loves to get a bath. she gets all smiley when i pour the water over her belly.

here's a few pictures from today. yes, i bought her these floppy hats. and i made her wear them for her 4 month photo shoot. she might hate me someday, but i have a daughter and dangit, i'm going to take advantage of it while i can!!!

i must say, i really do have happy kids. well behaved, happy kids. God loves me.

One Year Ago

one year ago today, our lives were changed forever. on march 1, 2011, i peed on a stick. the stick said pregnant. i cried. happy tears, nervous tears. you see, this wasn't just the second time i had seen a positive on a stick. this was the fourth time. unfortunately, the second and third times didn't end on a happy note. but, now i know why. i truly believe that God knows better. He knows what we need better than we do. He had something in mind for us...something so beautiful and special, but we had to wait a bit longer for her. i will always think of gianna as a miracle, a miracle that God planned for toby, roman and i. our family is now complete.
