Sweet Cheeks
don't you wish this is how you could spend your day?
Mellow Yellow
on tuesday night, roman tested for his yellow belt in taekwondo. the instructor said that he would mostly be looking at their focus and control, not necessarily technique. which was great, because no matter what he is like at home or school, he always seems to have great self-control and focus in class. he did really great, much better than some of the kids, even ones older than him and i was really proud of him!
doing his double inner forearm block
and his #3 front jump kick breaking the board with his front kick
receiving his yellow belt from mr. angelino
have you ever seen a bigger smile?

The Man in Red
so, from here on out, we're gonna be getting pretty busy preparing for the holidays and for our trip up north, so we decided to go see santa on saturday night. like last year, we headed to bass pro shops since they have a really nice setup and the picture is free. ...and, bonus...the santa has a real beard and mustache. love that.
anyhoo, our trip started out pretty rocky with a few threats to not go since we were dealing with a very hungry 4 year old (gotta get that boy a snack after nap, fo sho) and a little lady who peed on the comforter between diapers. well, mom and dad worked through the frustration and finally got out the door around 6pm.
bass pro shops hands out bass passes so you just come back at your designated time and can go shop or get something to eat in the meantime. we did have to wait in line for about 45 minutes, but it wasn't too bad. they have lots of things to look at while you are waiting to see old st. nick.

my kiddos were wide-eyed and ready
almost his turn roman is excited, but gianna doesn't look so sure...
a little one-on-one time so that roman could go over his wish list with the big man
i'm so happy that we were able to get down to savannah to see santa this year. roman really is into the holidays this year. it makes me very happy to see my son so excited.
Make Believe
roman really likes to play "dress up" or pretend he is something else other than a 4 year old. i love that he has that imagination...
in keeping with the season, he is pretending he is santa. complete with red coat and santa sack. nevermind that it is more like a santa jacket and a nike bag full of trash. imagination is a wonderful thing.

Her First Bottle
roman has always said that he wanted to feed the baby and i never had the heart to tell him that he couldn't do it right away. once she was here, we just kinda explained that momma had to feed her for awhile and then he could have a turn. well, his turn finally came this morning. i asked him if he wanted to feed her and he got the biggest smile on his face. and, it seems like he's a natural. she took the bottle right away, no problem. i shouldn't have been surprised. she's been an angel from day one.
one happy boy, one satisfied girl
i promise i didn't even ask him to kiss her, he just did it on his own she was just looking at him the whole time. i think she loves him just as much as he loves her.
my blessings are many
Snowlady
i feel kinda weird saying this, but after Christmas a few years ago (yes, a few years ago), i bought this snowman stocking because i knew we would have another child and i wanted their stockings to match. each Christmas since then, i've pulled this stocking out of storage and had to put it right back in the box. well, NOT this year! i guess i've never really realized that the snowman looks more like a snowlady until now. i guess it has always been in God's plan for us to have a daughter and i just never knew it. i am so grateful. full of love. SO happy to be able to hang 4 people stockings (and 1 doggie stocking) this year!

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!
the weather may be warm, but we are still getting in the Christmas spirit around here! when mommom was here, she bought all the supplies for roman to make his own advent calendar. she made one for him last year and sent it down and he had so much fun with it, so we are doing it again this year.
i cut out numbers on my cricut and had them all ready to be glued onto the bags
roman kept saying how he was so excited to be doing this "project". i guess they learn all those fancy words at school!
after he went to bed, i filled them with goodies and hung them up
for kids this may seem like forever, but when i see them all hung up, i get a little anxious...the 25th is only 20 days away!
saturday was a pretty busy day...first up was the Christmas parade. roman was in it this year with his taekwondo class, so gianna and i got up early to drop them off at the beginning of the parade and then went home to get ready to walk down and watch. it was chilly in the morning, so i got my little sugarplum all bundled up...
...then, when we got there, it was warm...like really warm. so, slowly, she came out of her fuzzywear...and as you can see, slept through the whole parade.
a lot of colellas were there...here's mikey and gage
i don't know this kid, but i thought it was pretty funny that he was all slumped over asleep with his santa hat covering his face...all while in the parade.
...and santa!
reese was in the parade too...see her in the blue shirt?
...and finally...there was ro! poor thing had been walking/running for almost 2 miles already!
after a much needed nap for all of us, we got busy decorating. don't you love a tree with all the ornaments at the bottom?
yeah, he's a little nuts about Christmas, just like his momma and mommom!

but first, a pose with the boys...

...and just as an added bonus, Click here for a short video of roman singing his new favorite song...

We Had Visitors!
sorry that i've been slack on updating the blog lately. we've had visitors and for some reason when people visit, i'm really bad about taking pictures. we did manage to get a few, though.
uncle josh and aunt colleen came down the day before Thanksgiving. long story short, they brought a motorcycle...and a motorcycle helmet with them. roman wore the helmet the whole time he watched the polar express. his head was really sweaty by the end of the movie. gross.
